Professional Qualification Program for Taxi Drivers

Regulation requires a TGA-approved training certificate to operate a taxi. We qualify you for it — and to pass the professional competency exam.

  • Duration per the TGA-approved package
  • Arabic · English · Urdu
  • Max 25 trainees per class
  • Accredited completion certificate

What is the taxi driver qualification program?

The taxi driver is the first Saudi a visitor meets — and the last to see them off. A truck driver deals with a road; a taxi driver deals with an impression: an arriving pilgrim, a tourist in festival season, a businessperson landing at the airport.

A TGA-accredited program covering public taxi, airport taxi, and app-based ride-hailing work — from regulations and fares to passenger service and personal security.

The regulatory basis is direct: the taxi activity regulation requires drivers to hold the TGA-approved training certificate.

The certification path — three bodies, three steps

1

Training course — at POTC

Completing the course at an accredited training centre is the entry requirement for the exam. Output: a course-completion certificate.

2

Professional competency exam — at an independent test centre

Pass mark 60% or higher. Output: the professional competency certificate (valid 5 years).

3

Professional driver card — from the Transport General Authority

Issued by TGA after passing the exam; renewal is tied to a valid competency certificate.

The competency certificate is valid for 5 years; regulation requires a refresher course at an accredited training centre at least 60 days before expiry — otherwise the professional driver card cannot be renewed.

Regulation prohibits combining training and testing. POTC is an accredited training centre; it does not run the competency exam nor issue its certificate.
